Fidelity
Keep layout reproduces the original page — fonts, sizes, weights and the position of every line. Flowing text drops positioning for a document that reflows as you type.
Scanned PDFs
When a PDF has no text layer, read it with OCR before writing Word or Excel. Slower, and accuracy depends on the scan.
Word output for a scan: editable text placed where it sits on the page, or the page kept as an exact image with the text hidden behind it.

Conversions run locally with open web libraries. Legacy binary formats (.doc, .xls, .ppt) and PDF-to-Office layout fidelity are limited in-browser: PDF to Word and Excel recover text and structure, not exact styling.
